Recently I made an ebay purchase on what is supposed to be oliver 60 engine overhaul parts. The gaskets appear to be correct but I think the pistons and sleeves fit something else.I have Celevite pistons with (2) sets of numbers A-1170P marked std. and there is another # 224-3025. These pistons measure 3 3/8" and an oliver 60 is supposed to be 3 5/16". Scince it"s almost impossible to find Oliver 60 engine parts like this,is this some aftermarket type thing that will fit? The new sleeves fit the pistons but until I take my engine apart I don"t know if these will fit in the block. Can anyone out there verify this clevite part # and what it fits? Thanks Barry

Do you know that you can bore out your old sleeves. Ron

Hi Ron, yes I know the old sleeves can be rebored, but certainly having new sleeves is preferable. Also if I did bore 1/8" (.125 larger) I might have pits on the water side of the sleeves being as old as they are but if push comes to shove I may have to take that chance.

Did you get a gasket set with your purchase? If your ebayer won't make good and this set (provided you got one) has a "FelPro" head gasket in it I would be interested in purchasing it or maybe trading (2) new "Victor" head gaskets for same motor. There's nothing wrong with the Victor brand the reason I'm looking for The FelPro is due to a difference in the bore size (smaller, but still correct for a stock 60, on the Victor). Thanks and good luck with your Oliver.

Hi George, I have 4 new pistons in the box w/ wrist pins with the Clevite part # you identified complete new set of rings by Hastings Part #7536 and it says case tractor-cont eng 4cyl. and 4 brand new sleeves w/ no markings on them but they do fit the new pistons. My plans are if the ebayer I bought them from won"t make good(scince there were represented as oliver 60 parts).I"ll try to sell them to someone who can use them. Thanks George for the info

My understanding is the Oliver 60 engine is a Continental as is the Case. I wouldn't panic too soon as thin wall sleeves offering a larger bore are common. There may be nothing to "make good on" if they were indeed orginally sold for use in Oliver 60.

Hi Len,having an over bore sleeve and piston doesn't bother me but I'm almost certain that the Oliver 60 has a Walkesha engine in it and not a continental. So my big concern is about the sleeves fitting in the block which I don't think they will.I saw in the archives on this site where a guy used the bigger continental pistons to overhaul a 60 but they had to have the wrist pin at the right height/location and a bigger bushing had to be put into the connecting rods but he had to use the original sleeves bored out.
