I was wondering if anyone can tell me what they "name" this model of Oliver. The tag on it reads Model Number 247 11017 Serial Number 183 905 098 clear as day, but no other information is on the tag. It is a pavement packer and has 6-8 solid rubber wheels in the back and steers in the front. It is a factory made unit. I would like to find out where I can look to get some specs on it and perhaps a manual. I looked on the manual page for Oliver but can not figure which one as the model number doesn't pop up to pick the right one. Any help would be muchly appreciated. The unit is on Auction right now on YTMag Tractor page if you want a better look at what I am talking about.

The unit was built in the fall-winter of 1966-67. Look behinf the starter for some casting numbers, it apears to be a 770 unit. They were made for more than one company and in more than one size of power unit.

Quite a few years ago, I saw a similar unit in a bone yard near Philadelphia, PA that had either a twin 770 or 880 power pack on it. I have wondered why it had the twin instead of a single. Did these packers take that much power?

Dan M, Would it be possible for you to scan the spec sheet out of your manual on your tampo and e-mail it to me? George

That is an industrial oliver power pack on the packer.I think the packer was built by someone else.I have a industrial 770 tractor and a 9 wheel packer just like in the picture. It has the Funk reverse o matic.I bought it for the motor and sheet metal to put on my tractor. If you took the powerpack off the roller and put a front axle and rear axle and wheels on it you would have an industrial tractor.my power pack fits into the 770 series.

Thankyou for the reply. When I looked at this unit it did appear to be a complete tractor just dropped into a framework for this packer. I found it to be something of interest to Oliver collectors as like you say the tin and all the rest is in real good shape and could be used to build a tractor from it. Lets watch what develops.
