Thanks for the previous answers to the rubber tension spring on the seat on my 550 Oliver.

I have a 3 pt. hitch on this Oliver 550. Can I install hydraulics to run a front end loader?
What parts would I need?
Also the 3-pt. hitch is jerky when lifting and bleeds down when shut off. Is there a particular part I should be looking at?

I HAVE ONE OF THOSE OLDER 55'S WITH THE DRAFT ON/OFF LEVER IT WORKS GREAT DON'T KNOW WHY THEY SWITCHED.

ALSO THERE IS A BETTER WAY THEN ADD A PUMP TO THE FRONT TO RUN A BLADE OR LOADER. I MADE UP A BLOCK THAT COVERS THE PORTS ON THE SIDE WHERE THE "EXPENSIVE IF YOU CAN EVEN FIND" EXTERNAL VALVE
IS SUPPOSE TO BOLT UP. IT CHANNELS THE HYDRALIC
FLUID INTO A NORTHERN HYDRALICS VALVE AND WORKS
GREAT AND IS NICE AND NEAT. I'LL HAVE PICURES
AT THE OLIVER SHOW NEXT WEEK.

Yes, a remote can be added. The little three cornered plate with a plug in the center (under your right leg as you sit on the tractor) is where the romote valve attaches. If you want a factory one, get ready to shell out better than $300. The better alternative would be a front mounted pump for a loader though.

The bleeding off of the 3pt is normal, it has to do with the draft control. If the 3pt raises jerky, it is also due to the draft control. The two bolts on the top link assembly with the heads pointing toward the seat bracket is to immobilize the draft control feature. Unscrew the bolts until they touch the seat bracket when bush hogging and the hydraulics will work smoothly. Also, if you are using the draft control to plow and it jerks, select a pin setting closer to the ground to minimize that effect. Hope this helps.

Should be the same except for some of the Super 55's had a lever under the seat to switch from draft control to straight 3pt. I haven't seen any in person, but have read the literature on them. Great idea but from the instructions on how to adjust the linkage I'd rather get my pHD...

Thanks for the information. My 82 year old uncle and I had the family farm, and since he recently passed away, I find myself spending all my time working on the equipment and brush hogging, etc. instead of hunting and fishing.
