Only until 1974 did the 1855's come standard with the oil coolers. Prior to that time, these oil coolers were added as part of updates.

As for the loader on the mfwd, it is the only way to go with a loader. Industrial axles are the second choice, and rc/wide fronts are last. There is a very good add in the Hart-Parr Oliver magazine talking about the mfwd axles. They are very stout. We have a 1755 mfwd w/heavy duty loader. Used to move hay and anything else within reason.

There is a picture of our 1855 mfwd with loader in the Oliver photo gallery or I hope the link works. We once lifeted a 3406 Cat with transmission out of a truck with it weighing around 4,000 lbs.

No ill effects from the loader on the MFWD? Planetary, axles and CV joints handling the added stress okay?

Just curious.
Thanks,

I have had no trouble with the front wheels, but you know how that is about the time I start braging something brakes.I loaded about 350 tons of corn silage last spring in 8inchs to 12inchs of mud,it work really good couldn't have did it with a 2wd tractor.I loaded the last 50 tons with a 943 bobcat skidloader it didn't work near as good, got stuck 3 or 4 times had to get pulled out.I wouldn't have believed it if someone would have told me it,I was a skidloader man.

Add says "Rare oil cooler". I would have thought 1855's without the cooler would be more rare.

MFWD 1855 add

That MFWD sure would be nice in this KY mud.

Anybody ever put a loader on one of these MFWD tractors? I don't recall ever seeing a picture of one with a loader.

Our 1655 has a loader along with the MFWD. It has kept me from tipping the tractor over at least once so far. Lifting bales of baleage on a hill can get a little tippy....

Great traction, awful turning radius. If you want to test your tractor driving skills try backing up a wagon with it.

Hey Myron,

That low houred, doctor owned 1855 gas that was talked about on here not too long ago was MFWD and had a loader. I bet it would push and dig like crazy, but the maneuverability would'nt be that great! WB.

Oh yeah! I remember that now. "Only used to push snow, low hours, always shedded."

You haven't added that one to your stable yet? ";^)
