I am restoring an Oliver 70 rc and would like it to look as original as possible. the rear wheels are 38's that are pressed one piece wheels. I would like to be able to find a set of 40" wheels if anyone knows where i can find some, or should i even worry about. stay with my 38" rims, or find 40" rims?

I have a set of 40" rear wheels, but no tires. I know that you can get a new set at miller tire if you would like or possibly find used ones. I also have the cast centers to put on the front to match the back cast centers. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks,
Lance

the wheel set that you have sounds like what i might want on my tractor, how much are you looking to get out of them, and where are you at?
as far as contacting me, go to Link and there is a link to email me. check out the rest of my site and let me know what you think, it was a class assignment--took me about 12 hours to put together.

They came with either pressed steel 38" or 40" with cast centers. I had 2 70's with both sizes. We found that you can't get new 40" tires large enough so they look right on the tractor. Miller Tire in Ohio has 9.5 x 40 but they are quite pricey and are about 2 sizes too small for a 70. If you stay with the 38" you can go into about any farm tire store and new ones in the right size for a fair price.

Are the 38 inch rims easy to find? I just bought a really nice 1939 70 RC. Its absolutely beautiful with the exception of the rear tires which are 40s.

Yes they should be fairly easy to find. The last pair I bought I gave $5.00 for at a farm auction. These pressed steel 38" rims with the 9 bolt pattern were used on Olivers, Minneapolis-Molines, John Deeres, and Massey Harris. There should be plenty of them available at a fair price.
