Is is a good tractor?

I am looking at a 1750 gas with an aftermarket wide front. The tach shows about 4500 hours. It will need new rear tires also. Are there any problems typical with a 1750 gas that I should look for? I am not familiar with this series of Oliver, anything I should know about?

Thanks, Matthew

Would be very good for a general chore tractor. Would not be at all afraid of the gas engine. Unless you put several hundred hours of use per year, wouldn't think you would see much difference on fuel. Having had both gas and diesel, the gas model is the one to start trouble-free in the winter.

The only knock on gas in the larger horsepower tractors, of course, is cost of operation. This one would be no exception. The 4 digit Olivers are generally well thought of- heavy duty power train that seldom fails, and just an all aroung good tractor. In fact, the main knock on them is the diesel engine (particularly the 310 ci), which wouldn't apply in your case.

Gas dtractors do not keep up with diesels for fuel ecomony. However I think that engine in a 1750 or late 1800 is the best 80 horse gas engine ever put in a farm tractor, Horsepower output per gallon of fuel used is much better than average. My 2 cents worth.
