Hello,
My Super 55 was changed over by a previous owner to a hand push start located on the left side of the tractor. It is simply a metal rod, pushes the starter switch forward, and rides on a pice of small pipe welded to the sheet metal. Quite simple.
I have bought a used foot pedal starter and had planned to install it as original. Before I do that, I would like to have some feedback from guys that have the foot pedal. Is it a problem? I think mine was changed because of damage to that side of the tractor. I had to replace the foot rest on that side. it had been bent before.

I have a Super 55 that still has the foot pedal start. Mine looks original, but it has quite a bit of play in the linkage. I haven't owned this tractor very long, so I'm not sure what they are supposed to work like when they were new, but mine is pretty awkward to use with my foot, (maybe because there is so much play?). I usually push the pedal with the palm of my hand.

My Super 55 has the same kind of hand push rod as you refer to and it works ok. I thought this was standard but I have the only super 55 around my area that I know of and nothing to compare it to.

The one thing is to make sure it DOES NOT STICK when pushed. If it happens the the engine running will chew up the starter drive or starter.I usually push mine with my hand anyway.Big feet and boots can make it hard.I have seen the direct rod before and its easy to push it or get it hooked on cloths when not wanted.
