We have an Oliver 1250A, and it looks like the starter safety switch on the gearshift failed. Does anyone know of a suitable replacement, or should I just break down and splice the wires together? Thanks.

Have you taken the old switch out? Have you checked into a new switch and if so where?

On our 1755, it had a safety switch on the clutch. It was rigged above the pedal, and when it was pushed in the, lobe where the rod connected on the back would hit the switch. Obviously not factory but might be another option for you. Donovan from Wisconsin

You may not have a choice and have to just bypass the switch. The 1250 and 1250A are not real Oliver tractors but are actually FIAT tractors that were imported by White and painted Oliver Green. As such, parts are not as readily avaiable as they are for Olivers. You could try several of the online tractor wrecking yards to see if they have any available.
