Hi all, once again I come before the collective intellect of this group to pose a question. What would cause the float on my Zenith carb to stick closed? If I tap the float pivot area on the carb body it will release and run fine for a while but will eventually stick closed again causing the engine to die. This is particularly noticable when the tractor is at idle. I've had the carb apart on several occasions, replaced the needle and seat, and checked for any binding in the float, all to no avail. Can anyone give me an idea as to what might be happening? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Rick

Why are you so sure it is the needle sticking.
When was the last time you moved to the right side
of your 550 and checked the sediment bowl? The
metal gas line goes from this to your carb.Is the heat causing it to vapor lock? Is this line open from tank to carb? Pull the low tank drain tube in front of the bowl and when the rusty looking gas stops and it turns clear put it back in.
