Any other clues? Model number, a picture, from what era, narrow or wide front, tire sizes, horsepower range, how many cylinders, what color, etc. could be helpful.

Sorry I figured a serial number would be enough.

The tractor is a Oliver 550 industrial model.
Serial number 242549484, model number 51571328
It has a rare combo of options, they are:
A loader, White Model 588.
Serial number 15683
A heated cab, Model 2-44
Serial number 11.506
Solid front axle, non-ajustable for width.
Large Heavy duty tires for loader.
A front mount Hyd pump for the loader.
A belt driven hyd. pump for the power steering.
4 speed trany with shuttle shift.
It has 3pt and pto, from what I understand 99% of these had a back hoe and no 3pt, pto.
There are also 3 very large and heavy White counter weights on a 3pt frame mounted on the
rear.

I just purchased it from a dealer in on the east side of Lake Huron near Dungannon.
It seems solid and runs well, one of the power steering seals needs replacing and I in the middle if doing so. There does not seem to be a lack of parts at my local Agco dealer.

Check out the "Tractor Photos" on left panel of this site and search for "Cockshutt 550". There are two pictures of a White 2-44LL/Oliver 550 ind/Cockshutt 550. Check the grill pattern to see if your is sinmilar to this 1967 model. It"s a real workhorse and I love it!

Doug, yes it does have a grill the same as the one shown. I was told that the belt drive power steering pump did not come out untill 69 or 70. I do have that option.
I would love to kown the year.

You can link to a picture at the dealer I purchased it from.

Thanks

Ron

The power steering pump was changed before that. I looked at a 65 model for a friend the other day and it was equipped that way. Serial numbers are listed on the left and you need to drop the last three numbers as that is the final drive code. Industrial models with that loader will have a one piece axle. Technically I would call your tractor a 2-44 Industrial, 2 meaning 2 wheel drive, 44 meaning engine horse power. Questions give me a reply on the HPOCA site.

John the HPOCA site would not let me reg. Not sure why it told me twice that the graphic code was incorrect. I can see and was entering the correct graphic code but it would not take it.
Anyway????? ???

The numbers are:
Serial number 242549484, model number 51571328

As I mentioned in the earlier in this discussion I'm just after the year of this 2-44.

Thanks

Ron

My book shows the 2-44 produced from 1968-1975. First serial no. built in 1973: 236586 " " " " " 1974: 244559
What the '484' stands for I don't know but to me your tractor fits squarely in the '73 model year.

Thanks very much for the year info, I had hoped it was a "newer one".
The (484) is the code for the 4 speed shuttle shift as opposed to the (519) for the 6 forward speed 2 reverse speed
standard trany.

Thanks Again

Ron

Like any other Oliver serial numbers since the introduction to the Super series, the last 3 digits are the"code" for the drive train. Since he does not have a standard 6 forward-2 reverse he does not have a 519 number or the later 019 number when the ring and pinon were changed.
