my 77 head, I ported and polished the head. I LEFT THE SAME SIZE VALVES IN. Took 60 thou off of the bottom and it was good for 7 horse on the dyno. My ports now match that of a 770 manifold. I also run a tsx 755 carb. Just an idea....

I have the 3-3/4 flats also. I found more power in the head though. The tsx 755 works well with the 770 intake manifold.....I take it you have a super or 770 intake??? Making them breathe is the secret, although too much of anything can be a BAD thing. Try to find a dyno and tune on that. Thats really the only way to dial in your machine. I pull 4000-5500 lbs. All in 2nd gear due to speed limit. Plenty of power for that speed..... Good Luck!
