Sorry, I've misplaced your phone #. Can you tell me why I'm losing all my hydraulic oil into the tanny on our 880? It almost seems to drain as fast as I pour it in! Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

Luther; How are you? Those two kind of answered the question. I would put new needle bearings in also. That helps to keep the shaft centered in the pump seals. Press them in on the end where Torrington put the bearing identification. Put both seals on each end so the lips face the pump. Questions?

I am doing just fine although I didn't want to read what you fella's wrote! That's o.k., though, I'm cuious as to what makes the plate split or the pump (God forbid!) go to pieces. Would over r.p.m. do that? It's only been pulled since the last time I worked it (tractor pulls). J. I'll find your number or get a hold of you through HPOC? It'll be good to talk some shop again. Thanks everyone for helping with the bad news!(ha ha!)

Luther: Number one cause of splitting the center plate is someone has the relief valve set too high. When you put seals and bearings in you might want to check the relief valve by removing the screw that holds it all together and see how many shims are there between the spring and the end of the bolt. I have seen farmers put lock washers in there to get a lot of pressure. 800 PSI is just fine. Remember that set up was designed before World War 2 was over. Everybody was happy to have a hydraulic system. Personally I do not think your plate is cracked.

The seals and center plate were both bad in mine. The center plate was split clear in half from having water frozen in it. HINT HINT, if you need a center plate, go with an aftermarket plate for $200 versus $400 from AGCO. The aftermarket one is a lot better too.

I'm not J.S. but have have talked to him about that type of problem on a Super 88. You probably have bad seals and or a cracked pump. For your sake I hope its just seals because a pump is big $$$
