Yea, I know it's a combine, but what I am wondering is, is it actually a Cockshutt or a White? and if so what model? My FIL has one and might be needing the shift cables and some other parts between now and harvest season here in MN.

I'm not familiar with the 5542. Were they the same as the 542? I'm guessing the shift cables were basicly the same on most of the machines. If you can find out repost at this site as I don't have an e-mail. I know of several old machines that still have the cables on them.

542 and the 5542 where the same machine. The 542, was the White and the 5542 was the Cockshut. Both machines where made in Canada.

Not fam with 5542 must be smaller sister of 5555.When the white corp wrecked three good companys they decided that Cockshutt had the bettor combine(which to their credit was probably true)White just painted each one a different color for who sold it.Try the white dealer or start checking scrap yards you could also try to match up cables at a industrial supplier,good luck

Don't dispair yet. I just bought out a dealership's old new stock parts in June. Lots of combine parts. Find the part number you need and e-mail me. I'll sell the parts for 1982 prices which is about 1/2 to 1/3 of today's price. Dave in montana--parts are in Illinois.
