I am helping a good friend find parts to repair their Oliver Super 550 yr1964. The steering "sector and shaft, right" is bent and twisted. It is a short shaft with a half-gear. We have spoken with Oliver dealers and shops but no one seems to be able to find this part. We are in central Texas. We have spoken to Capital City Oliver in Austin, TX. They can find "left (full gear)" but not "right." The tractor sets in pieces until a good replacement is found. Any leads are appreciated.

Are you sure that the part is bent, a tooth would have broken off before bending. I had a 55 that had a loader the left pitman arm was bent and wearing a ridge at the rear. The front pivot pin had slipped out and the force bent the pitmn. It is mallable iron and my 10 ton pressed it back to proper shape.

Thanks to all for the replies. Still looking for the part but I thought I'd go ahead and say "Thanks."
The tractor is on a ranch in Washington, TX. Its main duties are mowing and... more mowing...
We're making due with an old Scags three wheeled mower (we have a hard time finding parts for it too.)

Keep in touch....and thanks again.

Better watch that ol' boy Greg/Tx I have met him personally :)

Howdy Greg!

As to other parts there is a fella on ebay that is a blood hound on Oliver 55s / 550s. I have seen him part out and sell some nice rigs or what appears to have been some nice rigs. I think his handle is SPMN or something close to that.

Best of luck with your search.
