I recently have purchased a 550 oliver.
I am not very familiar with olivers. I would like to know about how much horsepower it has(it is a gas tractor).
I also would like to know about what year it is.

Horsepower should be about 35 at the drawbar. Diesel versions run with a little less horsepower than gas, my diesel Super 55 is running about 29 hp at the drawbar. The 550 and the Super 55s had the same engines. Your tractor was made no earlier than 1959 since the Super 55 series production ran from 1954 to 1958. They were Olivers answer to the popular Ford NAA, and later 600 series tractors. The 550 tractors were slightly improved versions of the Super 55 and featured the new paint scheme and sheet metal.

The 550 used a 3 5/8" piston as compared to the 3 1/2" piston in the Super 55. You will have just a bit more horse power. Also the production years were from 1958 to 1975 for the 550. You can check your serial number and year at>Link
