I am working on the engine of a Cockshutt Golden Arrow. It was left outside and filled with water which froze and broke all the sleeves and the block. We found a block from a 550. The only difference I can see is it has bigger cam bearing bores. I am wondering if it uses a different cam or the same one but with bearings instead of running directly in the block? I need to take care of the cam situation before continuing then it's a standard rebuild. I'm going to work shortly so will be off the computer for awhile. Thanks in advance for any replies, they are appreciated. Also where is a good place to check for parts? I can get some from my local NAPA store. Dave

Dave Wis,

The SAME cam is used in the 35, Golden Arrow and 550 gas and diesel. It is Cockshutt part # MK-105.
The 35 and Golden Arrow do not use cam bearings. The 550 does use cam bearings. I have Cockshutt parts and references of others for Cockshutt parts.
Please let me know when I can assist you further.

Phil, thanks for the reply. I work the midnight shift so I sleep during the day and am home (usually in the shop) evenings til around 9:00pm. So if I need to call, evenings will work good. I was thinking (and hoping) that cam bearings was the answer. Dave
