I was gonna tell you to post here. These Oli guys take them pretty serious and when you ask specifics like that, they'll jump on in with help. Just so you know, I don't own an Oli (not yet), but visit this forum from time to time when see an Oli that catches my eye. For now, I own an Allis and a Deere. That being said, everything I told you on the tractor forum applies across the board no matter what tractor you're operating. Let me help you out buy getting these guys up to speed on your problem, and stay here with these guys now, they'll help you best. PROBLEM: 1650 gas was runnin fine until changed muffler, burnin oil, running flat on a cylinder ever since. As near as I can tell, no knocking, but suspect from the sounds of things, may've knocked or dropped or broke something loose into the manifold and may've somehow found its way to a valve or worse. But don't know yet. You're looking for rings and maybe pistons. Have you tried checking compression yet to see which or if any cylinders are down? Before you go buying rings or pistons, you're gonna want to pull the head and you're going to have to pull the head to do pistons and rings anyway. But you've gotta start with the basics. What's the compression look like? Have you tried removing the valve cover and watched the valve train movement? Those are the simple things, do them first. Who knows, your problem may not be a cracked ring or damaged piston. You may have a stuck or bent valve and oil may be leaking down the valve stem and guide. Unless you've gotten as far as pulling the head and it's ok, I wouldn't be jumpin to conclusions that surely have bad rings and pistons. You may have a problem with a damaged piston, but it doesn't sound like you know for sure yet. Did you pull the oil pan and find metal in it? Is that why are looking for rings and pistons already? Did you check the oil for gas in it? You're blowin oil and runnin flat on a cylinder's the last I heard, and don't know that any of these guys have heard or know that. Don't buy parts until know what parts to buy. How's that compression? Which plug is oil fouled? What did you find that has you lookin for lower end parts?
