What size rear blade does everyone suggest for my 550? I want to plow snow with it and do some light grading.

I have a 6 foot on mine now, but wish I had gotten the 7.

JimP, I have a '59 550 Industrial running 14.9x24 rear Ag tires (with fluid)that makes my overall tractor width 6', and a factory loader and 3 point. I have been using an ARPS heavy duty 7' blade for about 10 years. Some advantages are the extra weight of a heavy blade helps cut hard earth, and keep it in the snow. The 7' width means when I angle the blade to one side discharge, my cut is still 6', the width of the tractor. My 3 point lift was rebuilt 15 years ago and so far no problems with the weight. Good luck.

I have a couple of rear blades I want to get rid of. Look a little rough but are very usable units. Go to my new web site www.ricksales and look under used catergory. Enjoy the site and tell your friends. RickL

I run a 6' blade behind mine - picked it up for little of nothing. I do wish it would pivot vertically so I could clean ditches better. The blade like a box blade takes some practice. I am getting pretty handy with mine now.

For a good looking blade go to implements and check out WILLY-N's blade.

Jim, I would go with a medium duty 6 foot. Anything narrower will not take out your tire marks and anything wider will be too much weight and too much of a load.

Thanks everyone, I think a 6ft is what I am going to try to find. I think I might be dangerous with a 7ft ehind me! Rick thanks for the site but I am in NY so your kinda far to drive for a blade.
