Going to look at a 1964 550 tomorrow. It"s missing the drawbar and I"d like to have the aux hydraulics.
Are these tough to find? And what"s a ballpark cost? I don"t need them now, need tractor for auger use this fall, but someday...

Thanks.

It's much cheeper and more convienient to use a Ford drawbar [100 bucks] It takes a little work to adapt but you don't have to take it off everytime you use a rotary mower. You can have an adapter block made and use any open center valve.

Why do you have to take drawbar off? I have a 550 with stock swinging drawbar, and I can leave it on when bush-hogging. Bushhog never goes low enough for drawbar to interfere with PTO shaft, and drawbar is short enough to clear the front of the bushhog.

The drawbar and aux hydraulics can be tough to find. I have seen drawbars from $150-300 or you can modify a 70/77/80/88 drawbar to fit if you don't want it exactly original. That's what I ended up doing. The aux valve is usually $350-500 if you can find one. They are rare and sought after, and when one comes up, they ALWAYS sell. I've seen about one or two on ebay, and no more than 5 on this site. Shep's got the rest covered.

Oh, and is there anything else on the tractor I should look at? I printed off Shep's article.

Thanks for helping.
