I am looking at an Oliver 55, fresh overhaul (10 hours), ground crank, new bushings/gaskets, new rings, tec, no smoke, no leaks, fresh paint, good rubber. He is asking $4200. Is this a reasonable price? What is the difference between an Oliver "55" and a "Super 55". Thanks.

Bruce

That price seems fair if it is newly rebuilt and has a good paint job. Check out the pto clutch, the axle seals and the steering. Is it gas or diesel...does it have power steering? Does it have external hydraulics? Power steering and exteranal hydraulics up the price. WGM is correct...there is no 55. The 550 is the younger brother, a bit more power and seems to had power steering more often.

There was never a 55. There was only a super 55 or a 550.
