I just got a 3 cylinder gas oc-46 & I
want to change the oil. The problem is
that it has a "Western Auto" filter and
none of the major brands (fram,AC, Motorcraft) cross reference. If you know
of another reference # from another company please let me know.

the western # is 74-5901-9

the engine is a Hercules GO130

Mike,

The Fleetgard number is LF-607. It is equipped with an orifice to maintain good oil pressure in the by-pass system the GO-130/OC46 uses.

I always hated the mess that was created by that foolish upside-down filter when I changed the filter, so I modified the bracket, made the hoses longer (I used Push-Loc hose/fittings rated at 250 psi) and mounted the filter head right side up in the same area.

Now it is easy and clean to change the filter, plus the crud stays in the filter instead of draining back into the engine when it is shut off.
