Just wanted to let ya'll know that I finally got this carb licked on the ole 77. Ended up after rebuilding the thing it still ran gas over. Found out that the float was more of a sinker! No hole but somehow the two floats were caved in. Never filled with gas but boy did it drop when put in a bucket of water. Got a new one and she runs like a top! Thanks for all the help.

The carb has had water in it at sometime and froze when it got cold. Use your smallest drill bit and drill a little hole in the floats and a little air will expand them back out. Solder the holes shut and you have a spare float.

Try no hole and hot water first. May just pop out.

Thanks fellas, I had thought about trying both of these tricks too. Seems like one should work. I am just glad she is back to work. Guess the guy I got her from just didn't want to take the time to figure out what was wrong. Cheap tractor for me!

I replaced the float in my 77 due to the same thing. Mine were crushed due to backfires.
