We just bought an 1850 gas with the underslung axle. I was wondering if anyone had ever pulled one at a "stock" pull. If so do you have any secrets or public knowledge that might help. I have pulled a 77 in some stock pulls with some success so it isn't like I have never done it.

How light can you get one with a wide front? I would be willing to change the rear cast rims over to pressed steel. I really don't want to do much else because we want to be able to use it.

I pulled my 1850 gas at our local fair. 18.4-34 cast centers, loaded tires, two sets of rear weights and four fronts. The tractor weighs 11,600. We had a mini rod sled and he couldn"t stop me. Spikes down and brakes on. It had rained for about half of the pull and it was a sloppy mess of clay. I used third gear and didn"t have use the underdrive until he locked the brakes. The tractor has about 95hp.

Hey Matt,

I had my 1750 down to 8500# class. I had 18.4-38 on press steel and took off the fenders and lower 3ph arms and links. WB.

I think I remember seeing that on the dyno at the shop.

I think our 1850 with narrow front and the perkins diesel in, weighed right around 9,000lbs. Yours should be lighter consideringit is a gas. We pulled 8,000 already with tin centers and took off the fenders. Ithink we ran third gear in 9,500 and dropped to 2nd in 10,500lbs. We only have the hydrapower. This was a stock 1850 pulling with 18.4x38s on a hard pulling clay track. Good luck
