I was wondering if anyone know where I can find the serial#, model# and or date of manufacture on a Oliver row crop. It was sold to me as a 77 I thats all I know. Would like to get the appropriate manuals and parts info. Thanks

Serial number should be on the left side of the dash unless it was made before the fall of 52, Then the serial number will be on the right side of the transmission case under the platform and up and ahead of the brake housing. I have an idea the arms on the side of your transmission are on a power lift which is to raise a cultivator. The drive for it is in the transmission. Do you have a little foot petal by this device?

Thanks for the info...looks like it's a pre-fall of 52 model but tag is gone..only rivets remain. I found a little shaft on the rightside of the tranny next to the lift arm. Looks like whatever pedal was attached has broken off. Shouldnt be too difficult to fabricate and attach a replacement. I put a pair of visegrips on the shaft to check it's function. Seems to be spring loaded and definately engages something. If it wasnt so dark outside I would fire the tractor and see what it does. I'm sure it runs those lift arms just dont know how quite yet.

Be very careful with that lift mechanism. If you start the tractor and trip it with those vice grips on there, its gonna make a half turn and not much will stop those vice grips once it starts it rotation. Stay clear of them.

I think you misunderstood the location of the vise grips. I used them on the actuating shaft as the pedal is missing. The stock arms are still on the rotating shaft. Seems to be a pretty neat setup. Almost like a wiper motor..engage it once and it rotates half a turn to up or down then stops. I'm assuming this setup would be rugged enough to raise and lower a snow plow. Any comments ??? THANKS

Right, i see what your saying. i misunderstood. I know of a young boy who lost his foot with one of those lifts years ago. They are very powerful. I think the guy had a foot long bar attached to the arm to hold a tool box and the young boy who was riding accidently tripped it and it trapped his foot somehow. Im not sure of total pounds lift, but they will lift most anything you can attach to them.

It seems it would be plenty strong enough to raise and lower a snow plow. It would be alot cleaner a setup than installing hydraulics.
