Gentle men this is only a 20hp machine. please quit repowering with car and truck engines. These were built as farm tractors. Plenty of collectors out there will take your problems away from you. Try M&R Track service 800-564-0383 has plenty of parts and complete machines.

Who all have repowered an hg? I have one with a sick engine and have considered repowering it with a more modern powerplant. (Even a Briggs and Stratton would have more power!) Any thoughts and or recomendations? I once saw one with a Datsun engine in it complete with the datsun 5 speed! Kinda crude but it worked and the owner fabricator was sure proud of it! Thanks, Ed Service

HG"s became OC3"s when Oliver eventually changed numbers, colours, etc. after buying out Cletrac. The OC"s should be better than the older HG"s - younger (and not so worn out?) and they would have the later modifications, such as later pump cooled engines, different front idler arrangement.
They are a small crawler, not a very good dozer - unless the gearing on the HG"s is reduced with an auxillary transmission. Don"t know if there was a low geared OC3 for dozer work. The early HG"s which did not have outboard bearings in the track drive gears are not really suitable to fit a reduction gearbox to, if they are to be used at full torque (maxpower and slowest speed)
Hope this helps.
Regards, RAB
