I am restoring a 1952 Cockshutt 40. I had is stripped down and painted it. Now installing a new wire harness. I hooked the wire from the regulator "bat" to the - side of the amp meter as the directions said. Now amp meter reads discharge when running. When I turn on the key it show charge. Is the amp meter backwards?? Or does it need polorized?? If I need to polorize, how do I do that?? I am getting close to putting its picture on.

I polorized from "bat" to "gen" and still had discharge with key on or lights on. I reversed the wires and all works like it should. Thanks for you input. I will post a picture as soon as I get it all put together. It seems like it is taking a long time, but I am now want to get in a hurry, so I have to walk away as to not make mistakes.
