I am rebuilding my wagon gears and putting new beds of the gears. From some of the more mature Oliver guys, any special marks in identifing Oliver hay gears from the others. My IH gears have got the casting stamps in two of them. I think I have an Oliver but I have never had an Oliver gear. Also, what lumber sizes would you recommend for the frame and bed. Any advise is appreciated.

This is an Oliver running gear,it has a plate on the back axle that says The Oliver Corparation,if it wasn't raining so bad I would pull it out and get some better pictures, this is all I had saved on the computer,it was red and had green wheels, also have an electric wheel wagon,it looks the same only has a different tag on the back,it is red to,but the wheels are rusty so I don't know what color they originally were.

I have an oliver wagon, one of the first ones probably out of the 40's that my father bought new. It's painted red where as the newer ones are painted green. To my understanding oliver gears were built by "Electric wheel co." and all the oliver gears I've seen have the "electric wheel co." tag on the rear axle. Hope this helps some. Steve

Steve,

Thank you. I have one or two of those. It has green wheels and red on the frame. I did not know who built them for Oliver. I apprecaite the help on that one. I was guessing that they were Oliver for the faded green looked right but the red caused me to say it cannot be correct. I just learned something. Thanks again,

DAVE

Wards running gears and possibly David Bradley gears also had red mainframes and green wheels so those are also legit possiblilities. I would more suspect that it's a wards than an oliver as a wards is more common.
