I just noticed there is a Oliver 408 grinder/blower 1000 rpm pto at a local auction tuesday. How rare or common are these? What is it worth?

Not sure on numbers, but as an Oliver guy who has seen a number of Oliver implements from this era (swathers, mowers, balers, choppers, gravity wagons, etc.), I have never seen one of these units and wonder if they were made by Fox, like the rare choppers. I sure wouldn't let the iron buyers go home with it, Adam!!! Make it bring better than scrap value for sure.

Adam & WFE: The model 408 Grinder/Blower along with the 406 Grinder/Mixer were built for Oliver by a company in Tonkawa, Oklahoma (I can't remember the name of the company ). The models 840 & 830 Forage Harvesters were built in Oliver's Shelbyville, Illinois plant, not by Fox. It's true that there was a lot of simularities, in fact the heads would interchagnge. The 840 self propelled model used the transmission and final drives from the combines of that period. The steering axle and platform were from the combine also. The engines were either a Chrysler V8 from the 545, or a V6 GMC. The diesel used the 478 engine from the 2150 Oliver.
