I have a 1952, so I'm told, Oliver 77Row Crop, I bought it from the original owner. I have to run this tractor with the choke at least half way out or it will quit when the governor kicks in under load. I talked to the person I bought it from and he said it has been that way since it was new, it don't seem to be bad on fuel, which I'm suprised. Another problem I have is it will start right up when the motor is cold, but when you have been working it and the motor is at temp. and it stalls or you shut it of and try to restart it most likly will not start, with out letting sit for about 15 minutes or so. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

Remote diagnosis can be all wet,and it's not clear what has been tried. But the starting problem is likely related to weak ignition which will add to the running problems. Are plugs, points and condensor new? Has ignition timing been checked? Is thermostat working properly? As to the carb, at idle, turn idle adjustment screw in and before it bottoms the engine should labor and black smoke should show in the exhaust. Open adjustment screw just slightly. At this point you should be able to adjust main jet to get proper throttle response. If not, diassemble carb and check float level(it may be too low) and clean load jet and load circuit throughly.

Check the jet settings on carb. Sounds to me like the air jet is too far open.

I am going to make a guess that you might have an air leak somewhere, perhaps at the gasket where the carb meets the intake manifold.....
