Recently purchased and Oliver 1800. Need to know the year. Numbers on plate lower left side of steering wheel show: 38-2241 and 14800 844. Are owner/operator manuals available, if so , where? It runs good but can only find one gear.

It has been determined that the Oliver 1800 I have is 1964 series C. I have ordered an onwers manual and service manual for the tractor. Thank you all for your information and help.

If I am reading your serial number correctly , the serial number chart on page 92 of Larry Gay's Book on Oliver tractors , A Guide to Hart Parr , Oliver and White Tractors (1901-1996)(copyright 1997) indicates your tractor is an Oliver 1800 C made in 1964 . Gay's Book says 1800Cs made in 1964 had serial numbers ranging from 140 893 to 149 818 so a serial number of 148 844 would appear to be one of the later 1964 models .

my husband and I own an 1800 C Desiel. We found manuals and service bullitens online. Just got done rebuilding the engine, and doing other assorted work. We aren't experts by any means, but feel free to send me an email if you'd like talk - macybaby@amerion.com. So far I've found there doesn't seem to be a lot of people with the newer 1800 models.

I'm back. 1800A has a checkerboard on the grill emblem, the hood side panels were smooth and used decals, no Hydra-power (unless it was added later) and a 263 cid gas engine. Not familiar with any of the diesel engines, A,B, or C. The throttle control lever was on the steering column, similar to the 88-880 style. 1800B has the Oliver Keystone on the grill, raised panels on the sides of the hood for the "graphics", and the cid of the gas went to 283. Not sure on throttle lever on this model. 1800C most noticeable on these is the throttle lever is attached to the right end of the dash and the steering wheel tilts and telescopes. Still has the raised panels on the hood sides and the 283 cid engine. There may be other differences, but this would be what is easily recognized. This should get you to the correct series . If you have any more questions, drop me an e-mail. oleblu

For what it is worth the 1800B gas I am familiar with has the throttle under the steering wheel.

I was just looking in my old book that I found and I noticed all 844 codes I have are for the B & C series tractors. I wonder if you are missing a 1 between the 4 and the 8 because we sold a couple of them that are within 250 of that number. They wer both sold in the summer of 1964 if that is true you have a C series tractor C series also have spec numbers that start with 38 Hope this helps.

Your numbers don"t seem to match with the serial no. list on the left, but we can still get close. James in PA is correct when he stated the 1800 series was started in 1960. 1800A was from 1960-1962, 1800B was 1962 and 1963, and 1800C was from 1963 and 1964. Some small changes distinguish each series. Gotta go- need to make a phone call, be right. back

I may need to punt on that serial number. It is a C series, however I think there were some 1800 tractors made right before the 1850 tractors so it could be a 148 and one of the last three digits is missing. I noticed all the spec numbers we sold ended in 04. I was wondering what size tires and other options are on this one.

Try www.olivertractor manuals.org it is the website for the Floyd County Museum in Charles City, IA. They will have reprints and some originals of all Oliver manuals. As for the year the first set of #s is the model # the second is the serial# but I believe you are missing a #. If I recall corectly the first was made in 1960 and the starting serial # was 90525-XXX.
