I need help from anyone that has repaired or fixed a steering assembly on a 990 or 99 tractor. I have disassembled the steering column to change the bearings down by the worm gear. Two problems exist. I need to know if the worm thrust bearing cup can be removed? The new bearing I purchased from the dealer had one with it. I know the bottom bearing's cup is made in the screw adjuster. Does the one in the steering column come out? Second and bigger problem is it possible to get the small bearing that is located right below the steering wheel? I have been unable to locate one. Is there another match for it or something to replace this bearing? I would really appreciate any help. Would anyother model steering work? Thanks!!!!

I've done several of them. I do not believe the upper race is removable. The lower one is machined right into the plate. I think the upper one is too. In all the ones I have done the race was still in good condition. You probably can't get the bearing without the race even though you may not need the race.

For the small bearing below the steering wheel I machine out my own bearing out oil impregnated bronze on the lathe. If you don't have a lathe any small machine shop can whip one for you at a reasonable price.
