We have bought a 550 that needs alot of work but is supposed to be running. I figured ou what most everything is but there is a lever on the right side that I am not sure about. If it were a M-M it would be the Ampli-tourqe lever . Is this for the PTO or does it do something else?

Hey Jeff,

Come on down and look at my 550. It is the PTO lever. Will you have it at the Atwood show? Where did you find the 550?

hehe I don't think it would make good show material but hopefully we can get it running and use it some.E found in up in Troy of all places. Have been right by it for years and never seen it.The guy called my cousin and wanted to know if he was interested in it and how much it was worth. I'll get pics of it when we go get it and send them to you.

Planning on bringing a few to Atwood although I think the 1800 will sit this show out . Too dang big to haul alot you know? WE just got a really nice JD B restores though and I am sure it will be there along with my ever present 77 (it's like VISA, I don't leave home without it ) LOL!!! Finally got my subscription in to Oliver Heritage and plan on getting the two back issues ordered as soon as I get my first mag. Sherry said that since this was the third printing it was only natural that there will be a big article in it on No. 3 ( imagine that??? :) I might need to pick your brain some on this tractor once we get it home although the guy said it was running last year and is not locked up( hard to believe they spread gravel with it then considering one rim ins literally rusted off but sitting in a horse lot I guess things happen.

third party image

Does the lever look like the one in the pic? If so this is the lever to engage the PTO. Placed strategically to bang the hell out of you knee so watch that.

This is my 550 Dsl with new ground plow, aka disk plow aka breaking plow etc.

yep that is it. I figured it was the PTO since everything else was accounted for .:) Gotta go get some tires and wheels tonight ot put on the tractor so we can get it on the trailer to get it home. Oh Shep I been meaning to write back. We got the G running but not real good. Still have some carb or fuel system probs but nothing major. Am hoping to get it figured out in the next couple of weeks.

It could be the lever for position or draft on the 3pt.

The way you describe it the tractor has a front PTO handle.
