Did Oliver ever sell on off-center model?

Sometime in the late 1940's, probably 1947, I visited the Oliver plant in Charles City, Iowa. While there I saw an experimental model, and even sat on it. It was an offset design something like a Farmall A. Wide front, 4 cylinder engine, (probably a 60 engine)with the engine and drive line offset to the left of the operator. It was a good looking little tractor. I can't remember what the grill looked like except that it didn't look like a stock 60.
My question is: did they ever sell this tractor and if so what was the number?

The only offset Oliver that I know of is the Super 44 and 440. They would be about the size you are talking about compared to an A Farmall. You could have seen an early version of one of them I suppose.Or maybe something else I don't know about.;)

Hey Chuck could you tell me how wide the 440 is and how long. Just trying to get a idea of the size of the tractor.

About like an overgrown Farmall Cub. I hauled one out of the weeds years ago for the guy I worked for at the time and put it in a pickup bed to bring home. They would straddle one row in the field. with the wheels dished in they aren't very wide. I'm sure someone here can put a tape on one and give you exact dimensions. Not very precise info, but I hope it helps. Chuck

Thanks for the response, guys. I started this thread using the name Oliver70 but found that someone was already using it so will us OliverRC70 from now on. I bought a 1948 RC70 new, and it turned out to be the last 70 that my dealer sold. The 77's and 88's came out shortly afterward. I would have waited if I had known that the new models were coming. However I liked the 70. We had three of them in our family. I have a picture of the 70 on the wall right above my computer desk so I am looking at it right now. It was a pretty tractor. I modified mine right after I got it by putting on two exhaust pipes, which was not a factory option. I built my own port to hook the second pipe to the stock manifold. I also modified the brake pedals by mounting a cross shaft underneath the tractor and putting two pedals like a Farmall H or M on the right side.
