The steering locked up in my 550 while I was bush hogging and when I tried to move it the shaft came loose on the steering wheel in the gear box.
Looks like quite a job to repair.
Is their a rebuilt gear box availabe, or am i going to have to rebuild myself?

A rebuild of your unit is the only way. All parts are available, the usual problem is bearing failure on the shaft due to lack of lubrication. Parts are available from Korves Oliver,Rose Bud Ill. If needed I can send a scan of the steering box, it also shows the position of the gears in the straight ahead position. The dash will have to be removed to remove.

Thanks.
I called Korves and they have parts in stock.
I have an I&T manual that described how to rebuild. Hopefully this will be good enough.

What probably happened the upper balls fell out and jammed the ball nut. The shop manual shows the correct positions of each gear and a cut away showing all parts. The IT doesn't show how to align these.
