770 power booster slips in high speed

Just acquired a very nice 770, 1960 model.
The only serious problem I have found is that it slips down to low speed in the high speed position under a medium or more load. I assume that the over-centre clutch is slipping. I am assuming also that I will have to move the engine ahead or remove it to get at the clutch, any comments? I understand also that the clutch has shimms and that this may be the way to adjust it, if it is not worn out, again any advice or comments. If I have to remove the engine I would replace the clutch anyway.
Any help greatfully appreciated.

I also have a 1960 model 770 that the power booster kicks out of gear in the low range, push in the clutch and sometime's it will go back into gear, and sometimes it won't. My operators manual is not very clear on how to adjust the booster. Seems to work fine in the high range. Any advice?

Mark

Thanks for responding.
Mine slips in the high range but is fine in low. From the forums I have read it seems that your problem may be the "sprag" clutch. I have seen some postings that talk about it. There are 2 clutches in the power booster. High speed depends on an over center clutch and low speed depends on the sprag clutch (from what I understand in the forums).

You do not have to remove motor, remove shimes just like PTO to tighten chutchs

Thank you very much for the advice. I will pull it apart some day soon and see if I can figure it out.
