Finally got my 1800 A home today. It is a 1960, diesel, wide front, with only 3477 Hrs, runs and looks like new. I was just wondering what engine the A series used, and how good of an engine it was? Second question is, How do you tell if it has had the lube pump update installed in the rearend? Any other things to watch for on this tractor? Thanks, Wide Open

Your 283 will run well if treated well. I have 4 A series 1800 tractors. They are our favorite and we use them on the farm. I have two gas and two Diesel. I have enjoyed mine immensely and they have never given me trouble, however, like anything else, I maintain them well. If I can help let me know.

DAVE

I can tell you it's a 283 and they were not that bad. My neighbor has one and it's apart now because someone else was using it and never checked the oil. They ran a turbo on it from 1969 to now and never had any trouble till now.
