I bought the 415 mower this week . Got it home and the blade bar was stuck . So instead of taking the pitman stick off and getting it loose with a hammer , I soaked it in oil overnight and the next day tried nudging it with the PTO . Pitman held but the belt snapped instintly . Put on a new belt last night , got the bar loose and greased it up tonight after work and mowed the ditch! Tried the field but the blades and guides aren't sharp enough for heavy grass . After I oiled and greased everything the bar stayed close to the ground after tring to lift it . I'm lifting it with a come-along till I find the right remote cylinder . The lifting arm came back to it's stop but the bar only came up to about a 45 degree angle . Is there supposed to be a link of some kind from the lifting arm to the bar ? Or is it a splined ,keyed or tapered fit ? I have it wired together for now and it works . The other problem is that the blade bar ( cutter bar? ) drops down after lifting it for transport and drags on the ground . Have to wire it up too! Sure could use a owners manual . The 2 local AGCO dealers said they couldn't get them anymore . I'm going to try O'Brien's Implement and the Floyd Co. museum in the morning . Thanks ! , Randy-IA

After going through the archives and finding implement alley I have to correct some of my terminology . It's apparently a knife bar not a blade bar or cutter bar , They are knives not blades and they are rock guards not just guards . I found a picture on Iron Search of a cockshutt 415 . It's identical except for the link that goes from the main gearbox bar to what I called the lifting arm and the new paint . Randy-IA
