I found a 1800 row crop, diesel, no cab, hours? (shows 4200hrs currently not working) runs good, uses no oil, good hydrolics and rubber all the way around 75%, narrow front, good metal. No H2O in rears. Says its 97hp and uses it still for some haying but he is getting old and says he needs to quit.

My question is are these good tractors and is $4500 too much for this modle and nf? Was looking for 1850 or 1950 with wfe. I am wonting to get a larger tractor (around 100hp) I have increased my farming and dont wont to over work my 1650 with larger plows etc. I am keeping the 1650 though ;) Olivers are hard to find in my area especially FOR SALE! ;) Any help would be appreciated THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

I would wait on an 1850 or 1950 wide front if you can bear to go that long . I think this tractor is overpriced especially since it is a narrow front and you want a wide front . If you decided to change the tractor to a wide front you are probably talking about another $1000 to $1500 for a wide front set up so you would then have $5500 to $6000 in the tractor which is a lot for an 1800 . Plus if you find the 1850 diesel you get the Perkins engine . Just my thoughts.

Thanks! These were my thoughts to the T. Just wonted to make sure my head was on straight and I appreciate the info. Been driving tractors since I could walk and I have just in the last couple years gotten into Olivers. I guess Im hooked too ;) The more I learn the more I like'em. Going this weekend to pick up a new adition to the farm. I decided on another 1650 for now. Find a 1850 or 1950 later. If my wife dosent kill me first! Thanks again and have a good day.

I'd recommend against it. in reply to jeremy, 08-01-2004 08:03:36
You say you want about 100 hp. The 1850 might do it but is a little shy. The 1950 would come closer. WFE is going to be hard to find and won't be cheap, in my own experience. In my opinion, the 1800 would disappoint you.

Sounds a bit high to me, but that's only my opinion. Sounds like a good 1850 or 1755 might be ideal for your operation. Prices for Olivers vary by area. What area are you in?

I am in north central Texas about half way between Ft.Worth and Abilene. Not many Oliver dealers were around here from what I am told. I have changed my mind on this tractor I agree it was a bit high (I thought) for the narrow front and this modle tractor even though it was diesel. Thanks for the reply and I guess I will keep looking for a larger tractor in the 50 series. Thanks to all.
