As a boy in northeastern Ohio, I saw tractor at the farm across the road for many years. On the shroud of the motor was "Old - Black Hawk". Does anyone know what kind of tractor this is, or who made it? it looks similar to a cockshut, but I'm not sure. It was off-white and Orange, (maybe Yellow, I think?! Please help! I'd like to find one of these and restore it. Thanx!

Chris,
During 1956 and very early 1957, Cockshutt Farm Equipment marketed the BLACK HAWK line of tractors in the USA. These were built by Cockshutt and were eactly the same as the Cockshutt Deluxe (yellow hoods) series that was marketed in Canada. The tractors offered in the BLACK HAWK series were: 20,35,40,50 and Golden Eagle. The most popular of this series was the 35.
Please let me know when I can assist you further.

Phil, would you happen to know the serial number range in the 35's that were Black Hawks?

The 35 production started in late '55 for the '56 year at serial #1001. The 1957 production started at 10001 and '58 at 20001. I believe it is safe to say that all up to 10001 could be a BLACK HAWK 35 or a COCKSHUTT 35 Deluxe.
I hope this helps.
