MS Carb on 1755?

I've been having some fuel feed problems on my 1755. It has a Marvel Schebler carburetor which I've dissassembled and cleaned but not rebuilt. A dealer told me that these have a reputation for not holding their settings after they get old and that I should switch to a Zenith for about $500. I'm a little skeptical. Is there any truth to the idea that old MS carbs won't stay in tune, or am I being sold a bill of goods. I'll buy a new carb if that is what it takes to make the tractor run reliably, but am not very confident that this is the trouble.

I ran a 1650 Gas pretty hard for years. The MS always did pretty good, but an in-line fuel filter was the best thing I ever did..

I though that aluminum carb was one of the best carburetors put on a farm tractor!. You need to set down and read the manual and check it as directed if you have never worked on one. The two key items to check are the diaphram and the power jet. The last time I needed a power jet it was NLA and I got one for a 4020. It worked fine. You will need some hose anda vacuum gauge to make your checks.
