I am wondering what the difference is between a 4240 plow and a 4340 plow. Is the 4340 just a newer updated version of the 4240 or is it a completely different plow? Also what years were both these plows made in?

Thanks

Didn't answer all of your questions in first post! The 4240 went into production in the mid 50's. The 4340 went into production in 1960 and was built until late 60's.

4240 plows were either a 2 btm or 3 btm. Could be converted from one to the other. Beams 1 & 2 came forward to the front cross piece for the hitch. Land wheel was tucked in next to the second beam making a narrow wheel tread. It could be setup as a 12", 14" or 16".
4340 was a 3 or 4 btm. Beams 1, 2 and 3 came all the way forward to the front cross piece. Wheel tread was wider as the land wheel was outside of third beam. The plow could be setup as a 14" or 16". The rake was three inches greater in the 4340 as compared to the 4240.
