Thanks and another question

Last winter I had a question about low oil pressure in a Perkins. I had some real good responses but wanted you all to know the problem was a idler gear stud that had loosened it self from the block allowing oil to free flow back to the pan. All fixed now, carries about 45 lbs. So thanks to all who had suggestions. Now - for the '50 series tractors there was an off set gear shift lever available. It had a part number and came with a heavier spring to be used on the right side to off set the extra weight. Does anyone out there know of one available or the spec on the bend. Getting that gear shift lever out of the way sure makes it easier to get on and off especially with winter wear.

Hi Bruce,

I checked my parts manual and can only find one gear shift lever listed - the usual "S" shaped unit that catches on your pocket or testicles when dismounting. There is also a straight shuttle lever listed but that would not work to convert the shift to the right hand side. But what a great idea! There is a guy that parts out Super 55 and 550s on ebay and often lists the levers for less than $20. It would not take much to cut it down and rebuild the lever with a longer extension under the seat and back up on the right side.

Regards,
Mike
