The seal right behind where the pulley bolts on is leaking terribley. Can I change this seal without taking the whole unit out of the tractor??? Any advice, instructions greatly appreciated..... John.

Are you asking about the belt pulley or the front pulley for the fan belt? If it is the belt pulley it will need to be removed. Not a big job. Just remove the PTO drive shaft too.

The belt pulley unit..... Impossible to change the seal with the unit in??? What kind of oil is supposed to be in there??? Has anyone tried it??? Hate to beat this up, but just painted the thing, Really don't want to take it apart.....

In 16 years of doing this I do not think we ever replaced one. We took most pulley drives off. They receive oil from the transmission, Maybe double check your transmission oil level. Your hydraulic pump may need seals and bearings. I think and I can look at one Tomorrow, the hub with the four holes that the pulley itself attaches to is larger than the seal behind it.That is why you can not change the seal without removing the pulley
