I recently purchased an Oliver 1550 diesel, but haven't been able to find out what the horsepower is. The serial number indicated that it was made in 1965. Can anyone help?

53 'Certified' horsepower on the PTO for the 1550 on both gas and diesel from the 232 cubic inch 6. This is from both the sales literature, the operator's manual, and the 'Certified Horsepower sticker on the side :). Have had one since new. Good luck..... dwm

I've got a gas Oliver 1550, and it's 62 horsepower. I don't know if the diesel is the same HP.

Best I remember they were around 55hp but I cant remember for sure. The 50 series seems to jump 10hp for every 100 added like my 1650 is 66hp and 1750 was 75 or so hp and so on. Maby this will give you a starting place anyway. I bet j meyer or shep could tell you with out even thinking. They have helped me quite a bit and can tell you the exact hp provided how yours is tuned up or if it is still factory setting.
