I am still looking to either repair or repower my 1650 D and I have found a pretty good price on a brand new crated Perkins 1004 OT engine. I keep floundering between rebuilding the Wakesha or making it into a flower pot. Does anyone know if the bell housing and flywheel from my 1850 D parts tractor will fit this modern engine? It is almost impossible to find good used Cummins engines in Alberta and a new 4B or 6B will run me about $17K so I am looking at alternatives.

Dave,
It might be worth a call to AIS. Perkins is one of their specialities. I will be coming to Minnesota in the fall with an IH Cub and 3 tools and would have room for an engine if that would help you.

You can get new 4B & 6B's a lot cheaper than 17K.
Call AIS Engine Corp. 800-442-2522
I bought both 4B and 6B's there for less.
Where are you located?
Good Luck,

I am in Alberta in Western Canada and 17K is the price that all of the distributors are charging here. The price is for an engine complete with manifolds, pumps etc. basically a bolt in engine.
Perkins has a bit of the sale on some of the engine lines while Cattepillar is reorganizing things. Personally I have always perfered Perkins engines having been raised around Massey's as a child.
