I have heard of several people putting the 283 Chevy in Olivers. I guess they bolt in pretty easy. I was wondering if anyone has or knows of anyone that has ever put a 300-6 in an Oliver 88.
What do you think? Any info? Any advice?

I'm in the prosess of putting a 300-6 in my 1650. I had to machine a new bellhousing adapter plate, flywheel adapter (I used the oliver flywheel) and I had to front mount the starter to drive off the harmonic balancer. I'll find out soon if it all works.

My only question is who makes the bellhousing
to bolt the Chevy or Ford motor to the Oliver
tranny? Or are you saying the Chevy motor bolts
right up and has the same bolt pattern as the
Oliver? I rather doubt that a Chevy or Ford motor
simply bolts right up to it.....

an 88 has the exposed input shaft to transmission. so you would use bellhousing and pressure plate from engine with clutch disk from tractor. some machine work etc.

I see.
I guess that would make it somewhat easier.
