Because the North side of town got nailed by a tornado Wednesday night!! I was busy finishing planting corn in a feild in the rain when the sirens were going off, had no idea what was happening. I couldn't hear them over the tractor, and I didn't care too much about getting wet. Wouldn't you know it, but as soon as I quit planting and got home, the rain quit after about an hour of sprinkles & downpours. Lots of farms damaged by the storm across the state, we didn't get a thing. Not even one small tree limb. Now the forecast is sunny till next thursday. Time to: Build new cow pasture, plant corn in old pasture as well as an older hay feild, cut and bale the rest of our 1st crop, and count our blessings that Grandma's looking over our farm. Ever since she passed(2 years on the 3rd) we've only had 2 bull calves, lots of dark/ black heifers(just the way she liked them), perfect weather for my brothers wedding, and stayed clear of a major storm about 6-8 miles away. Not too bad. As a matter of fact, looking back on it, we were doing hay the day she passed. Looks to be the same this year on the 3rd.
