I bought a 1952 40 Cockshutt back in the winter. I have been working on it off and on. I want to thank everyone who has given me good advice from this site. But (alway a but) I still can not get the tractor to run with out missing out. I have reworked the head, installed new points and plugs, plug wires, cleaned the carb ( do have a small tube that goes into the venturi that is cracked). It just will not run with out a miss. I would like to bring it to Bluffton to the show.
Any help???

Did you try a replacement ignition coil?

I intalled a new coil, did not help my problem, but it did give a spark that you do not want to get between, nice little kick.

Dave M,
Unfortunately "no", I cannot make the Blufton show. I recently accepted a transfer to the Atlanta, GA area with work and that has significantly squelched my Cockshutt hobby. However, did get the opportunity to get the 50, Super, and 1755 out to put in hay two weeks back in southern Ohio - so at least I get to have some fun. Enjoy the show. Hope to be back in the loop in future years.

Have you used a vacuum gauge to help you trouble shoot the problem? We are getting an article ready for the Oliver newsletter on how to do this and if you want an advance copy and want to try it in case we have some"bugs" in the article let me know. However I need your feedback good or bad.

Look at distribtor shaft for wear , we had a 30 that was so worn you could open and close points by moving shaft back and forth. New bushings solved problem.
