I have a 84 year old neighbor that has a OC 3 crawler with a Herc. flat head four cly. He has replaced the rings and has asked me how he could go about replacing the valve guides. This old girl is a little before my time. I told him that I thought they just drove out, but I thought I would ask one of you kind folks just to be sure. Also any helpful advise on the best way to do that would be great. He has been a logger his whole life and at 84 he still cuts logs and uses the little crawler to skid them out. Thank You!

You will also likely need to recut the valve seats as the concentricity may have changed, and,of course, may need new valves to fit the new guides. Regards, RAB

I understand that it is probably going to need new valves and I told him that, but do the valve guides, just drive out from the top, or is there a special way of getting them out. Dave
