I'm having trouble with the lifters hanging up in the 880 block. I bought the block used and it had set for along time with the head off and now I cannot get most of the lifters to go up all the way they go so far as they were likly setting when the engine stoped the last time and that's it with out force due to some rust scale. It has been cooked out and washed down several times but some how I never gave the lifter bores much thought tell now. Any ideas on how to clean the lifter bores and not ruin it? I've been to the local farm supply and napa to try and find a round wire brush to fit but found nothing. tried tapeing a section of emery cloth on a peice of hose but have had limited success. Any suggestions at all welcome. I already have the sleeves and pistons in and dont have a lot of room. Thanks, Adam Suess

Try this link to Mcmaster Carr. They have hones in about any size. Very good people to deal with. Jim.

When I worked for P C we had a small hone for lifter bores. See if you can fine a small brake cylinder hone.
